Retirement

My mum works nights and she has two jobs.

Her first job is with the Leonard Cheshire Foundation. She's been there for over 20 years and works the shift from 9.45pm - 8.15am. She works most Christmasses and New Years and bank holidays. Most of the people are physically disabled.

Her second job is with Islecare. She does the night shift there too 10pm - 7.30am. The people there are mentally disabled and once they're in bed, she doesn't have to worry about them.

Last night was her last night at the Cheshire Home. She has now officially retired from there, much to her delight!

One staff member gave her a card and they have arranged a buffet lunch to say goodbye and give her a present (much to her horror LOL). They were originally going to do it tomorrow, but then remembered it's Good Friday tomorrow so it's been rescheduled for when we get back from Scotland.

My mum is very fit and active for a retiree - she's planting a green gage tree as I type and not just a little sapling either - It's over 6ft tall.

Go Mum!
